Solar Power for Scrap Shears

The REON GROUP’s first operational photovoltaic system is being put into operation at the Scholz Rohstoffhandel Linz site.

A total of 518 PV modules, mounted on the roofs of the chip halls, the shelf storage hall and recycling hall 1, deliver a peak output of 228 kW. The solar energy captured is fed into the company's internal power supply system via two inverters, each with an output of 100 kW.

The electricity generated is primarily used to meet the site’s own consumption needs, and is therefore consumed primarily by the scrap shears during operating hours. During periods of low electricity demand (e.g. at weekends), surplus electricity is fed into the grid.

The PV system was supplied by Selina Photovoltaik GmbH, while the in-house electrical installation was realised by EBG Linz.
