Spectacular Major Project for the REON GROUP. Dismantling and Scrapping of the Aurach Bridge

In a record-breaking period of five weeks, Scholz Rohstoffhandel Linz, in cooperation with the company WL Industriemontage GmbH, dismantled the highest bridge on the Westautobahn motorway: the Aurach Bridge.

With a height of around 50 m, the Aurach Bridge is a genuine giant. As part of the motorway renovation, it will be completely renewed. Scholz Rohstoffhandel Linz, in cooperation with WL Industriedemontage GmbH, managed to win the tender for dismantling and scrapping the roadway girders and concrete iron parts.

Under the direction of Mr Wolfgang Lehner, the beams, which measured up to 4 m in height, 72 m in length and weighed up to 210 tonnes, were brought to the ground with the help of the largest crawler crane available in Austria and then fragmentised into container-sized pieces using a torch cutter and a scrap shear mounted on an excavator, loaded and transported away. Simultaneously, the first concrete pillars and concrete reinforcement were also dismantled at the mega construction site.

Within the space of a few weeks, around 2,400 tonnes of iron material were collected for transport and recycling. To manage this enormous volume, up to 4 articulated lorries were in constant use at peak times.

A big thank you goes to all our employees and partners who have made this project such a success.
